FieldTurf is fundamentally different from all others. Stable, firm not spongy, non-abrasive and uniform in traction, FieldTurf is engineered to play and feel like natural grass. On FieldTurf, players perform with confidence - and never experience the accelerated fatigue and muscle/ joint stress associated with lightweight, rubber-filled systems. Like blades of natural grass, FieldTurf's fibers are soft and easy to slide on. They are surrounded and stabilized by FieldTurf's patented, heavy fill - the "artificial earth" that so clearly sets FieldTurf apart.

Composed of smooth, rounded silica sand, cryogenically frozen and smashed rubber particles, FieldTurf's patented infill is engineered to stay "in suspension", providing years of proper biomechanics, shock absorbency and durability. A patented process of precision layering ensures infill uniformity. The result is a stable, resilient, predictable place to play with a grass-like performance of the highest quality.

Over 35 unique patents protect the inventive and engineered product that is FieldTurf. We have always vigorously enforced these patents against others making, using, selling or offering to sell products covered by our patents, and will continue to do so to the full extent of the law. The following provides a brief overview of a partial listing of our patents.

The fibers are tufted into the backing at a patented row width of 3/4" - the cleat width of an average sports shoe. The patented finger unit coats just the fiber rows for superior strength, leaving the rest of the backing fully porous for unmatched drainage. The finished carpet sections are laid on the field and sewn together. Numbers, markings and logos completed, the turf is now ready for infilling. The patented layering begins with several layers of clean, washed silica sand to stabilize and support the entire system.

Many mixed layers of specially sized clean cryogenic rubber and silica sand are added. Over 800,000 lbs of infill will be added. Multiple layers of these same sized particles of cryogenic rubber and silica sand ensure proper energy restitution without compaction. Up to twenty one passes of layering ensures that the infill mix stays in suspension, neither segregating nor compacting. The final layers are made up of a larger sized cryogenic rubber ensuring that it stays on top providing a safe, forgiving surface.

FieldTurf is the only true manufacturer. From the ground up. Our state-of-the-art plant in Dalton, Georgia will produce enough tufted carpet in a full range of colors to match the team logos for over 500 full size stadiums and facilities around the globe each season. FieldTurf is part of the Tarkett Group, a $2.5 billion company in operation since 1872. As the most financially sound company in the artificial grass industry, our customers' investment is fully and carefully protected.
